    What individual correction looks like

Private teaching lets you slow down the exact point that is unclear. A learner may keep the footwork count but lose the hand pathway, or remember a composition without landing clearly on sam, the first beat of the cycle. Showing a short phrase gives the teacher something specific to observe and explain.

A useful correction separates the issue from the whole routine: check the spoken rhythm, isolate the weight change or practise the arm pathway, then put the phrase back together. The purpose is not to collect more compositions while the same difficulty persists. Bring a specific question and use the teacher's assigned version rather than switching between unrelated online examples.

    Intermediate learners and returning dancers

Share your prior training, syllabus or repertoire and the skill you want to improve. Intermediate placement is not just a list of pieces you know; maintaining timing, posture and control matters too. A live review helps identify whether you need foundational correction, consolidation or new material.

After a break, a private lesson can revisit familiar work without requiring you to keep up with a group immediately. For exam or performance goals, explain the intended syllabus or event and any deadline. The teacher can discuss a realistic preparation plan; private attention does not guarantee an exam result or stage readiness by a fixed date.

    The online feedback setup matters

Frame your full body, including your feet and extended hands, with light facing you. Discuss the floor and clear enough space for the assigned movement. For a specific correction, the teacher may need you to adjust the view; a close-up of the face alone cannot show weight transfer or footwork.

Internet delay limits perfectly synchronised sound. Follow the teacher's cues for listening, reciting and demonstrating, and ask which count or bol to use in independent practice. Agree on recording permissions before making any recording; private teaching does not automatically include a video library or unrestricted recording access.

Decide whether private lessons fit your goal

Group teaching includes shared practice and learning from others' questions. One-on-one teaching gives more time to your own corrections and allows an individual pace. Choose based on how you learn, the feedback you need and the current timetable, rather than assuming private lessons always produce faster progress.

    Live format and feedback

Private video-call sessions focus on your goals. Keep your full body and feet in frame, with a stable camera, reliable internet and clear music. Confirm the platform before class.

    Placement and practice

Tell the teacher about your experience and goals before choosing a level. Kathak begins with posture, tatkar, rhythm and recitation, then builds toward compositions and abhinaya. Ask for practice tasks between classes. Progress depends on readiness, attendance and practice.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is one-on-one different from group classes?

Private lessons focus on your questions, technique and pace; group classes also include shared practice. Neither guarantees faster progress. Use the FREE demo to discuss the attention you need and the format that suits your goals.

Can I join for intermediate technique correction?

Yes. Share your training background and the difficulty you want to address, such as rhythm, posture, footwork or expression. The teacher can review your current work and discuss targeted practice rather than assuming your level from repertoire names alone.

Can private lessons support exam preparation?

Yes. Discuss your current syllabus, level and intended exam. Lessons can support technique, theory and repertoire preparation, but eligibility and qualifications depend on the examining body's rules and assessment.

Can I arrange private classes in my local time?

Share your city or time zone and suitable local times when requesting the FREE demo. Private lessons are arranged at mutually convenient times, with daylight-saving changes handled during scheduling.
